Jesse James Outlaw Garage

April 16, 2012 Leave a comment

Some months ago I did my review on the American Chopper Biker Build Off which featured Jesse James. Last week Jesse James’ new show Jesse James Outlaw Garage premiered, I forgot it absolutely was on until it came out however I did get a chance to work out it over the weekend and while Jesse James has designed cool bikes within the past, none of his shows besides Motorcycle Mania and History of the Chopper have extremely been that smart (Monster Garage was ok, had some sensible episodes and the remainder of the things wasn’t that nice).

Once seeing the American Chopper biker build off after I heard about Jesse James’ new show, I was expecting a show with Jesse James trash talking and bitching about something left and right. I wasn’t expecting a quality show. However what we got from Jesse James and Austin Speed Search may be a Motorcycle Mania like show but for Ancient Hot Rodders!

The Show is about Jesse and the Austin Speed Look doing different Hot Rod builds done during a Ancient (1964 and older) style. The premier episode Jesse James had to make a Hot Rod for  The Bonnie & Clyde Reliability Run. They selected do build a thirty two Ford but do it during a Prewar Hot Rod style meets Gangster car.

During the episode, most of the show centered on the build from the look, to finding and salvaging parts, making elements and putting the rod together. (For all you ancient guys the engine on the Ford may be a Flathead)! The show additionally spent a ton of time focusing not on just Jesse however the builders at the Austin Speed Look such as the Co Owner of the speed shop Bob, the mechanic Luke, the welder Patrick and the entire crew of Austin Speed Shop.

Now in fact there were some things I did not like about the show, that I hope gets left out of future episodes. One in all the items was some Drama in an exceedingly subplot (for lack of a higher word) where the welder Patrick didn’t show up to figure as a result of he had a tattoo appointment. Now even if this extremely did happen and it was reality tv moment will we as fans not have it in the show it interrupts the flow of the show and it doesn’t add something just wastes a pair of minutes. The other criticism I had was in the beginning of the show Jesse claims to not place confidence in in his builders and isn’t sure if they’d be ready to get the build done in a very month. That really does not do anything for the show either, it simply wasted five minutes that would of been shown on welding, or the build. So lets simply leave this drama out of future episodes.

Besides the minor drama movements most of the shows time is spent focused on the builds and the new rods themselves like how a show should be done. The solely things I assume the show is missing is Social Distortion playing (Machine Gun Blues should of been played) and perhaps some how to’s like in Motorcycle Mania where we tend to learned how to make a gas tank.

Overall though I gotta say if you’re a friend of Jesse James, cars, and especially if you are a friend of Ancient Hot Rods you’ll love this show.

Top 10 Choppers

For the past few years now I actually have sought for the Ten Best Choppers and that i am surprised nobody has made a listing like this before. I couldn’t notice any lists of the best choppers in the slightest degree I started to wonder why that was. I set I was going to make my very own then since nobody else has and while I was deciding and wanting for bikes to incorporate I realized why no one has done this nonetheless! Its so damn laborious simply to decide on ten Choppers because there are such a lot of different designs and varieties of bikes its like finding the hay in the needle stack!

As for the 10 I have chosen, I will simply say these ten are the ten best choppers, this can be the list of how I felt at the time and i in all probability will do more lists with 10 utterly different choppers shortly, since there are such a lot of choppers.

ten. Kevin Alsop and Big Bear Choppers- The Athena- The Athena was  engineered for Discovery Channels Biker Build Off, and it’s one hell of a motorbike! Its an all American biker built by an Aussie! The bike has an mean and aggressive look to it, which it achieves from its fire orange paintjob, devil impressed frames and handle bars that look like devils horns this is one badass bike!

9. Jesse James-West Coast Choppers- Gold Digger- I swear Jesse James and West Coast Choppers are the only people who do not have a gallery that list the names and specs of there bikes! I had to youtube History of the Chopper for the name of it! Anyway this bike is one among my favorites from WCC, Jesse designed this bike in History of the Chopper. The Front end of the Bike is constructed by John Harman and therefore the Frame could be a Frame Jesse Found at a swap meet years ago.

eight. Billy Lane and Choppers Inc- Money Shot- Now this bike has something extremely distinctive about it, and that is that its rimless! Yes the rear wheel has no rim! Alternative great things concerning the bike are the distinctive handle bars that go downward, the mirror is that the silhouette of a hot girl, there is pin striping on the forks and sink knobs for gauge covers. Impressive little detail is what made this bike!

seven. Chica and Chica Custom Cycles- Ace- I gotta say I love this bike! The Bike has that classic 50s and 60s look to it. With its black paint job with red white and yellow strips, its low, with short custom forks, incorporates a smooth fuel tank, and it conjointly features a cool bend in the frame that Chica is thought for. Making this a nice one among a form chopper!

6. Ian Barry and Falcon Motorcycles- The Black- Part of Falcon Motorcycles Concept 10 series, the Bullet was designed around a 1952 Vincent Black Shadow engine. What makes this bike nice is all of the  tiny details of every part on the bike. Just about every half is custom created and almost all of them are painted! The Black overall features a bit of a retro future style to it, The Bike is an antique art piece that is rideable!

5. Chopper by Denver Mullins Designed by the founding father of the Chopper himself back in the first 70s. Denver Mullins was the godfather of the chopper, he started building Choppers back within the 60s, opened his initial shop in So-Cal in the late 60s and created the Long Fork, smooth paint, Diamond Gas tank look that is still popular among choppers nowadays! Very little Known reality, even though Denver designed Harley Choppers his favorite Motor by far was Honda! He loved Honda do to their cheap value, sturdiness and power!

4. Hank Young and Young Choppers and Hot Rods- The Flying Pan- What I really love regarding the Flying Pan is that it appearance like an aircraft! (that explains the name). I love aircraft and aviation therefore this I extremely like this bike. The colours and therefore the paint build me assume of a WWI or a 20s barnstorming aircraft. The way the Fender and therefore the Tank are formed also look aircraft inspired. What stands out about this bike is the fuel tank hangs from the frame and it’s underneath it rather then being on prime of the frame. The pegs like like they are made from an previous machine gun that ads a cool impact to the bike, I truly have heard a rumor somewhere that Hank builds his parts out of recent aircraft and automobile components! (Which I think is cool)!

3. Indian Larry and Gasoline Alley- Grease Monkey- Built in the 90s by the late great Indian Larry. The bike looks simply like a 60s Hot Rod or Gasser, with its candy red paint job, white flames, the text have that 60s style fonts, the short front forks, and tiny vogue gas tank all create this bike appear as if its right out of the 60s!  Grease Monkey could be a true tribute to Hot Rodders and Bike Builders! It even options Indian Larry’s Iconic paint on the transmission belt! Grease Monkey could be a True Master Piece!

a pair of. Cole Foster and Salinas Boys Customs- The Beautiful Loser- It’s a Beautiful Winner in my book. It’s one amongst the most effective motorcycles ever engineered! Its paintjob offers it a 60s Hot Rod look, that the ribbed fender and fuel tank augment. The “burnt orange” paintjob is flawless, together with the white. Another I very love is the rear fender is not just chopped however its also rounded and smooth giving the full bike a pleasant clean look. Overall the Bike is a true Hot Rod.

1. Indian Larry and Gasoline Alley-Daddy O-  If I had to selected one bike in the world that represented what a Chopper is, I even have to mention it’d be Daddy-O by Indian Larry! Daddy is the example of the perfect chopper! Well done, smooth paint, perfect lines and a custom engine! Everything about this bike is amazing, from the custom gas tank that flows perfectly with the bike, to the rear fender that helps with the lines, to the custom designed frame that has excellent balance  to the even an engine that’s a Panhead and a Shovelhead in one! The Paintjob and therefore the bike was built as a tribute to hot rodder Ed “Big Daddy” Roth, Larry used Big Daddys character Rat Fink on the bike and metal flake paint like an Ed Roth Hot Rod.  Daddy-O very is the amount one chopper!

West Coast Chopper Sturgis Special

December 9, 2011 Leave a comment

Ever since I covered the American Chopper Build Off earlier this week, I have been getting emails from readers, asking me to do a featured Chopper on one of Jesse’s bikes. I don’t actually have permission from Jesse to do a feature so this Article may not always be up (I’m sure Jesse won’t mind, hey its free publicity) but by request I am going to do a feature on one of the first bikes that got me into Choppers. West Coast Choppers’ Sturgis Special!
I first saw this bike a few years ago on Discovery Channels “Motorcycle Mania II” as soon as I saw the Sturgis Special it became one of the Two Bikes that made me fall in love with Choppers (the other is Daddy O by Indian Larry). Just seeing the clean lines, the custom built frame, fenders and gas tank just made love the bike and choppers in General knowing that it was all 100% Custom to the builders liking. A Chopper was a rideable work of art that a builder could call his own and seeing a the Sturgis Special made me realize this.
What I really like about the Sturgis Special is the frame. The Frame is the body of the bike and its what holds everything together and the frame of the Sturgis Special just has what a classic chopper frame should look like. With its holes in the front tubes, its clean lines, its large and it just looks strong and aggressive like a chopper should!
Of course who can forget the gas tank on the bike. The Gas tank is like the Heart and Center of a Chopper, its the first detail you notice on a Chopper, it helps make the lines and over all flow of the bike. The one this chop has great, its smooth, no visible weld marks or scratch marks, its clean and it stands out!
Sturgis Special was built during the filming of Motorcycle Mania II, the bike is one of West Coast Choppers El Diablo II choppers that Jesse wanted to build to be his own personal custom that he would debut at the Sturgis Bike show. He built the bike in a few weeks then rode 1400 Miles in 2 days with Indian Larry and other builders to get to Sturgis.
The Sturgis Special uses main components such as a West Coast Choppers El Diablo Frame, Patrick Racing Billet EVO Motor, Baker 6 speed transmission with Jockey Shifter, WCC custom Exhaust, WCC Custom Wheels, WCC custom Foot Controls, Brembo Brakes and Brembo Hand Controls. Front Fork Angle 38.0? Front Tire Dimensions 80/90, Rear Tire Dimensions 240/50
I can’t say their really is anything that I do not like on the Sturgis Special the only is the Front Fender (Its a personal thing, I just hate front Fenders on Choppers) and the chrome on the frame. Its not the most chromed bike I have seen and its actually been ridding a lot so I can’t complain about the chrome.
Overall I got to say the Sturgis Special is one of my favorite Choppers, it’s an amazing bike and its everything you could ask for in a chopper.
